In this chapter, we learn that Erzu is dead. We learn that she loved the gods and the people she loved, and that she was lovedlier than the best scene nature could produce. She was loved as a member of the family, and the council has decided to honor her by declaring her an eternal member. This is a waste of everyone's time, because Erzu isn't really dead. She's not supposed to die for her friends, she says, because that's the path to happiness.
