The chapter opens with a description of the world of Edolas, which is a different world from the one in which the humans live. The king of the other world tried to reverse the loss of magic in the world, but it did not produce the desired results. He connected the two worlds together and planned to open animas in different places in the new world. Unfortunately, this plan did not work, and the people in the old world were targeted. The elf tells his friend, Carla, that he was born to the other worlds, but he also has knowledge of the new worlds and his orders burned. He asks Carla to tell him what's been going on. Carla tells him that they've gotten an update to the anima, but she doesn't know whether they can save all the people. He also feels responsible for the whole thing, since his home world did it. He tells Carla that they should all go in disguise, and he asks the male cat to do the same. He wants to release his magic so that they can enter the world without having to use their aera. The clothes on the elf's back are interesting, but the conversation is interrupted by the arrival of Julia. She's about to go on a job, and she asks him to wait for her. He says that he'll have to take a day's leave, but that he can't bear to lose a few more colds. The conversation turns to the fact that Julia is about to start a new job. He's not sure what she's doing, and asks her to come drink with him for a while. Cara says that she'll be back soon, and they all go off to drink together.
