The chapter opens with a description of the protagonist's age. He is thirteen years old. He has entered a new, dark guild. He tells the protagonist that he has never imagined that he would encounter him. He asks the protagonist if he has lost his pride as a wizard or a minerva. The protagonist replies that he does not, and that his partner has taken care of that. He says that there are "many interesting magics" in the underworld and that the protagonist should prepare himself to cheat now. He wants to know what is going on, but his body refuses to move. He wonders if he is being followed, and the protagonist says that he thinks they are being followed because they saw through their treasure hunting skill that they were the blue cat. They have a new no-choice goal: they want to take the keys to the treasure chest. The treasure hunters say that they only ask themselves one question: is it treasure or not. They do not care if the treasure is alive or wanted. They kill the treasure hunters with duuns.
