The chapter ends with a soliloquy by the master. He tells the story of how he and the others were expelled from the guild, and how they are still attached to it. He says that he will not go to confront the master, but will instead watch the parade, hoping that he can see him in the middle. He promises to always look out for him, even if he cannot see him. He also tells the master that he has found the location of his son, and that he plans to figure out where he is.
