Chapter 50 opens with a description of the battle between the phantom lords and the knights. The knights are defeated, and they are forced to retreat to the wizard's headquarters, which is a little further up the hill. The phantom lords, however, are still able to defeat the knights because they have captured the girl, who they call "Lucy Heartfilia" . The girl is confined to a small cell in the castle, and she is being held captive by the knights, who call her "phantom lord." The knights tell her that they have been sent to protect her, but she says that she is never going back to the castle. The knight tells her that he is going to use the ruse in his novel, and he tells her to take care of herself. He says that the castle is in the sky, and that the knights must be frightened by the phantom lord's presence. She tells him that she was sure that he was around the castle when the knights attacked. She says that even though she is sorry, she still wants to remain in the guild.
