The chapter opens with a description of Bethe vanderwood, a vegetable-magician who works as a nutritionist for mermaid-heel. Bethe tells us that she's an immigrant from western Europe, and that she serves as a kind of nutritionist to the mermaid. She's also noticed that the older sister, millianna, treats her sister, kagura, like a younger sister. She doesn't realize that millianna actually is older than her sister. The elfman tells Bethe that they can't control the wards on the mermaid's face, because they can only operate it by hand. He also tells her that the fairies are already revived, and he's here to help them. He's going to crush the fairies, he says. He wants to know who's supposed to be the new member of their club, but he'll have to ask the old one, minerva, who used to be a member of the same club as Bethe. He tells the elfman that he managed to find the enemy base right above them, and now that they're above the enemy, they can see it.
