This chapter opens with a description of the attack on the kardia cathedral by lightning. The thunder god has set up an attack on all the towns in the city. Mystogan is in town to treat his grandfather, who is critically ill. He begs the old man to help him. The old man says that he has no sympathy for the young man, because he is the grandson of the man who founded the fairy tail guild. He says that his predecessor did exactly the same thing when he started the guild to protect the lives of the other guild members. If he does not find his grandfather alive, he will be the master of the fairies. He tells his grandfather that he will not get better for him, so he will become his own man.
