About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a soliloquy by Lucretius in which he laments the fact that he cannot defeat the "fair wall magic" that will defeat him. He asks his master if he can take him down before he eats the girl. He then asks him if he thinks he can defeat him by grabbing his clothes. The master replies that he will take care of the girl and that they will fight each other as often as they want. He also says that they have been separated from each other for seven years and that there is nothing they can do to change that. Lucros asks him why he is totally naked. He says that he is not a dragon and that even if he were, he would not be able to defeat the rogue. He tells him that he has been separated of the guild and that his legs are not moving. He wonders why he cannot admit his weakness to the other members. When he asks for a hand, he is told that he should just leave to himself. He is amazed at the length of time it takes to change clothes and wonders if it is because he has taken too long to do so.
