About This Chapter
In the town of Onibas, in northeastern Brazil, a young couple named Frederick and Yanderica are looking for work. They've heard that the local theater is having a hard time putting on a play, so they've come to help. Frederick is bummed out that the theater has run out of actors, so he's here to help them put on the play. He's also bummed that there's no play to perform, because he thinks the play will be fun to fire, breathing fruit, but not to breathe vegetables. He wants to give the play a try, but he knows that the script is terrible, and only a week before the play's scheduled to begin, he can't stand the idea of seeing a dream come true. So he asks the theater to give him a chance to play the parts he thinks he'll be able to perform in the play, even though the rest of the cast isn't sure what they're going to do with their lives. He also wants to know if the princess has been taken prisoner, or if she's been kidnapped. The two of them freak out a bit, and then they realize that they have a play to prepare for.
