In the middle of the night, Ling-Lin is still in the mist. She is still standing on the side of the mountain, in front of a giant thunder- rhinoceros. She tries to scare the beast with her necklace, but the thunder-beast is too powerful to resist her. She kills it with one blow, and she says that if she had not given him the necklace, she probably would not have dared to do such a thing. She says that she is the "fief from the abyss" and that she will submit to him. She asks him to go explore the world and report back to her. He says that he does not want to die. He wants to know who has brought him to this place. He asks her to tell him who she is. She refuses to answer his question, saying that she wants to get lost. He wonders where she has gone. He has only seen a few people in recent years, and he will pay the captain a visit.
