This chapter opens with a sigh from the enemy. The heavenly wheel snake has come to the desert to control the heavenly wheel bug population. In order to fight off the bug population, people have to sacrifice their children to the wheel snake. The narrator tells us that this is a common practice in the eagle tribe. He tells us how often he offers the elixirs to the snake. It depends on the tribe and the time of year. He says that if he brings his sister with him, she will be a danger to him. He swears that he will not bring anyone to harm him, and he wonders why his sister wants to kill him.
