In this chapter, the Lord of Life explains that the spirit embryo is a product of his faith in the divine realm. In other words, he's a god-like being, and he needs a physical body to carry out his mission. The holy spear of death is a great weapon, but it's only a weapon when you're the lord of death. The other two lords have different faith pools, so they can't approach the spirit-like body. The only way they can approach it is if they're above the god's realm, which is about ten miles away. The Lord of the Nightly Clan has a different faith pool than the other two, so he needs to find a way to use the holy spear to his advantage. He's going to make the other lords wish for death, and then he'll make them wish for their own deaths. The two other lords, yao and the other lord of the nightly clan, don't seem to have much in common. They're both ambitious, but they've got their own reasons for wanting to control the night-life. yao's goal is to get the nocturnal clan under his control. The lord of life doesn't care what other people are doing, because he has a special affinity for the rules of the universe and he wants to find out what's behind them.
