Back at the prison, Lin tells the others that if they hadn't helped him, he would have died. Lin tells them that he still hasn't turned over the viceroy to the court martial, and that he's not planning to do anything about it now. Lin explains that the only thing on the sword that's still useful is the phoenix crystal, which can increase the speed of the attack. Lin says he'll try this out when he has some time to himself. Lin asks if there's anything else he needs to do, and the general says that they're running a citywide check to make sure that no ghoul lieutenants are in the city again. Lin thanks the soldiers for their help, but he doesn't want to be locked up again. He wants to be free, he says, since he didn't commit anything wrong. Lin gives the soldiers a chance to ask for anything they need, and he promises to give them a reward if they ask for it.
