Lin says that ning can provide him everything he needs as a sect master, and he's not interested if ning is offering the same things. Lin and ning are both "birds of a feather," he says. Lin asks ning why they dared to rebel against the ice palace, and she tells him that she's in the middle of the "trifling of life-and-death" . Lin goes on to say that grandma ning went out to find opportunities to improve herself before the attack. Lin explains that he tried to warn her not to risk her life for the sake of the sect, but she wanted to make sure that she was strong enough to withstand the attack before it was too late. Lin is worried about ning after all that's happened. He's returned two years ago, and now he worries about her.
