About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the selection of the hero of the story depends on the luck of his or her opponents. In other words, if a hero is born in the skynorth area, the odds are good that he or she will grow up to be a dragon. The narrator then explains the concept of a "wheel of luck" . A wheel of luck is a combination of two elements: talent and determination. Talent is the ability to master a skill, and determination is how one chooses to master the skill. With both of these elements in play, a "virtual disaster realm" will be created. We learn that a saint from the "kingdom of gods" was able to move forward with just one roll of the dice. This is not necessarily a sign of great luck. Some people live a long life of hardship, but eventually rise to the top because they overcame challenges and difficulties, which is a form of "good luck" as well. We also learn that two steps forward are an indication of past luck, and that even though they took two steps, there will still be more challenges for them to overcome.
