This chapter opens with a soliloquy by the ghost of Luozheng. He tells the audience that he is still alive. He explains that the wind of the afterlife gnaws at his life force because it is connected to the "law of causality" . He says that he will kill Luo zheng if he is able to save Yudie. He also says that even if he were to kill Yudie, she would not be able to resist his attack. He adds that he has burned away the "layer of defense" , and that it is time to kill him.
