In this final chapter, marz tells us that he's leaving Saratoga County to go back to New York City. He's not expecting to be fired, he says, but he does want to make sure that everything is in order before he leaves. He tells Sara that she's done a good job, and that they're worried about the safety of the city. He also says that it's a good thing that they have all the power they need in one place, because then someone could misuse it. Sara is shocked, and says that she doesn't know how to use the power she has. She's older than he is, and she'll never understand how to do anything with it. She tells him that she needs to resign, and he thanks her. Sara says that the witch has died, but New York is still calling her back.
