About This Chapter
"New Life to Come" The narrator tells us that he always wanted to be a cop in New York City. He says that he went through the academy, earned his gold shield, and was rewarded with a reward for apprehending criminals. He doesn't know why he was chosen, but he does know that he's chasing down the "dregs" of society. The narrator says that his reward was for arresting "sara pezzini and the nypd" . He adds that he gave away the "damn thing" to his fiancee, who is now pregnant. She's named Daniele Baptiste, but the "witchblade" went to her, the narrator says. He's not sure why she gave it up, but it's probably because she's a bit of a control freak. He also says he'll have a baby, so he needs to get the handcuffs back. He tells his fiancee that he kicked a guy in the balls, and he still thinks he is beautiful, even though he was missing a lot of it. He wants to make her a late dinner, but that's too much work. He has to go to see someone, and then he has to leave.
