Back at the police station in Harlem, the cops have left the station and are waiting for a boat to take them to the lake. When they arrive, they are tied up and put in cement shoes. They are tossed into the lake, and the narrator tells us that he tried to call the cops, but they didn't want to call him back. The narrator says that Jacky is one of his usual "scumbags" and that he's trying to kill him in his protection. Jacky says he'll tell him about New York, but first he has to leave the station. He says that the cops are just trying to drown them in the lake because they don't have the money to do so. He tells Jacky that he doesn't know what happened to them, but he does know that they've been tossed into a lake and tied up. He also says that they were trying to cheat the system, and that they tried to cheat their way into the universe. He asks Jacky to think about it, and he says that if she doesn' t know it, the "witchblade" knows the truth. She's not worthy of her life, he says, and she deserves it back.
