About This Chapter
In this second volume of the novel, Sara and Rosa are reunited in the woods behind Rosa's house. They have been waiting for each other for a long time, and now that she has returned to the house, they are eager to see each other. Rosa tells her sister that she is always welcome to join the sisterhood, and that she will not blame her for the situation. She tells her that she took her back because she wanted a life, and she was afraid that she would not be able to trust her. She says that she fought for her, only because she had to, to keep her from the hands of her mother, who would have let her rot otherwise. She asks why she should not destroy her, and Rosa replies that she could do anything she wanted in the house. She reminds her that the only way for them to work together is if she is in charge, and if she cannot agree to that, she can get rid of her.
