About This Chapter
"One good turn part" , the narrator tells us, is the way that a good turn of phrase is supposed to be delivered. It's a good one, because it's one of the few times in the book that we get to see a character's reaction to a situation. The narrator tells the audience that he's here because he was down in New Orleans to check on his father's health. He doesn't know what to do with his dad's illness. He's not sure how to deal with the witch's curse. He asks Sara to help him. She knows how to do it. She's also a good listener. She tells him that she's never had a sister, but she could use one now. She says that she had made some bad decisions in her life, and she owes her a nice blouse. She asks if she can have a chat at the diner near her place. The diner is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Sara says she'll meet her at the door. She promises to make her a ghost.
