About This Chapter
In this short scene, we learn that the new district attorney is none other than Sara Pezzini. She's not exactly a household name, but she's got a lot going for her. She tells us that she has dedicated her life to ridding the city of its most vile criminals, and that she hopes to recruit all law enforcement officers to help her in her crusade. She wants to make sure that the empress doesn't have an appointment at the police station tonight, and she wants to know if the night watchman knows about it. She also tells him to tell the man at the station that he has an appointment with her, and then she'll let him know if he's on his way to the palace. Sara says that she and her husband have been neglecting each other for a long time and that gambling is the only thing that satisfies their boredom. She says that they know of people who are looking for her and they have placed a bet with her to find out who they are. They're talking about her ability to get things done, but they don't know who she is. She points out that no one from the police office is handling the transfer of Sara's body, and no one knows who the mysterious people are. She asks if the police have any plans to help, and they say that they've already been paged seven times by the police. Sara asks if they'll be able to get him to come back to her again, and the cops say that he'll have to wait for someone else to do it for him. Sara tells the cops that she'd rather be okay than be in a fight with them, and says that the only way she can get the job done is if the arrows are free from the witchblade.
