About This Chapter
In the 7th century B.C., a peasant girl named Lydia ascends a mountain and discovers a strange glove that she calls the "living glove" . It turns out that the glove is an organic substance, and that it belongs to a woman named Samantha, who was once a prisoner of the cat goddess, bastet, and who was killed by her lover, Salathallah. Samantha fled to her village, but was captured by another woman, who told her about her father's death. She was then forced into slavery, and she was again made a gladiator. In ancient China, a woman known as joan was known to use a gauntlet, which she struck with her shovel. She had read the Bible and found no reference to the "hand of god" , but she took the gauntlet for herself. In the 17th century, a pirate named Anne met a handsome, moderately successful pirate named calico jack, who knew that she could never be separated from him. In 1720, an armed pirate named the providence captured Anne and calico jack on a stolen ship, and they were taken to jail. The witchblade was once the sole possession of a man named kenneth irons, who wanted to use it to destroy tanks, but it spurned him. The living weapon experienced another rebirth of sorts, and this time it was a streetwalker named Myra tossovova, who tried to control it without actually using it. Myra was just another nottingham from the 1990s and 2005 to japan and nyc, annottingham, the bodyguard, and the assassin, did not find the irons did. Myra's goal was to become a classical dancer, but not to actually wield the witchblade. Nottingham's plan was interrupted when she became the latest witchblade wielder. The current wielder is a single woman named masane, who, along with her daughter, Rihoko, struggles to survive in the future following the great earthquake in Tokyo.
