In the capitol city of bel-gadreyel, a woman named sara tries to leave the city, but the sheriff refuses to let her go. In the portal, she finds a message from the "boss man" , who tells her that the city is full of empty buildings and that she should not be too busy. He also tells her not to worry about the witchblade, because she will be able to find out why she stayed in her hole and kept her root "eating mouth shut" . sara responds by saying that she will take the "most joy in thumping" and that the portal has become useful for other purposes, allowing them to travel to worlds they cannot create themselves.
