About This Chapter
The chapter ends with a soliloquy by gleason in which he blames himself for everything that's happened in the neighborhood. He admits that he's been trying to help Sara, but that he didn't really mean to do it. He says that if he hadn't been involved, the whole thing would have been different. He tells the streeter that the city is "beyond anxious" to "close this" and "dissolve the racial tensions" in the area. He's going to call in the feds, and then he'll figure out what to do with the body. He apologizes for all the trouble, and says that he can't believe that he has been dealing with "the witchblade" for so long. He also admits that the body has been outside in the rain all day, and that he doesn't know what it is. He hopes that if the body turns out to turn out to be his, it'll be a good thing.
