In this chapter, we learn that a woman named Sara pezzini has found the "witchblade" and is using it to "attack anyone nearby" with vicious abandon. The doctor tells us that the witchblade has been around for four years, and that two of his men have been taken down, but that he is confident that he can still find the creatures. He has given the creature the drug mirlaris, which allows him to "become soud" within moments, which is much shorter than the natural process. He tells the doctor that he has advised him to stop this procedure, but the doctor says that as a doctor, he is afraid he cannot stand to "stretch the limits" of his abilities. He asks the doctor if he can hear him, and the doctor replies that he will not be able to hear him. He says that he was busy and that he doesn't know what was going on with the witch, but he does know that she is opening her eyes. He also says that the doctor was the one who warned him about the witch and that if he is lucky, he can finally put the "soul of cynthia to rest" . When he was eleven years old, he went to California with his best friend, maria blini, and their family. One of the highlights of the trip was the train ride where the passengers got help from a train robber. The gun gave him his first "blue eyed wink" and moved on. He adds that most of his clients are "big wig hollywood types" and that they can see him but cannot hear him . The lord is his shepherd. He guides him in the "paths of righteousness" , and he says that his clients can't see him, but they can hear his voice. They are just well, he says, and they are respected and influential. He is not allowed to get naked or to wear makeup, because he does not want to "get a good look" around them. He goes on to say that anya was very special and that she relentlessly pursued the "answers to age" and "old questions" of the world. She gave herself to "the prosperity" that he had helped her with, and her faith blossomed. She is gone, but her "crusade lives on"
