Back on the island of New York's Liberty Island, a breathless reporter named Katey Pijeaux reports that two police detectives are on their way to the scene of the attack. She asks the two men if they remember anything about the incident, and they both admit that they did not remember anything. Katey asks if they're afraid they'll lose their pensions, and both men admit that it's very likely that they won't be able to continue working for the police force. Sara, a former servant of Katey's, tells the reporter that she's confused about what's happened. She's heard that Katey is getting a 20 percent discount at a local restaurant, but she doesn't know if that's true or not. She wants to know if there's anything she can do to help. She also wants to see a doctor, but neither of the detectives will tell her where they can find him. Sara asks if the doctor is doing well, and the detectives say that he's not doing too well, but that he wants to talk to the doctor about the other detectives. Sara says that the doctor asked her about the others, and that she wouldn't have believed it, but what she has seen in the past 24 hours, she says, defies reason.
