The witch hunt is over, and Regan tells Gad that she's going to kill the monster. She's not going to let Gad kill her, she tells him. Gad tells her that the monster is too big for her, and she should have picked a fight with the island. She tells him that the work of hundreds of years of sacrifice has finally yielded a living god. She promises that mankind will be reborn with a new god. Gad says that he's been waiting for this to happen, and he'll be able to tell when the time is right. He's ready to believe anything, he says. The monster is dead, Gad says, but the priest who took it back opened it up, and everyone is talking about it. He says that Gad is in love with him, and that's why he won't let her leave him. He promises to be right back.
