About This Chapter
In this second part of the witch hunt, we learn that Dr. Rivers is now in the chapel at St. Mary's Hospital. He's been there for a while, but he's still not used to being in the hospital chapel. He tells us that he came to the chapel because he'd heard a commotion in the church and wanted to check it out. He asks Sarah if she'd like a ride home. Sarah says no, but she'll give him a ride back. She's not sure why a cabbie would ask for her phone number, but it sounds like she's just asking for directions to her house. Sarah tells her father that she doesn't have a habit of dropping by the church. He says that's because he grew up in the Irish neighborhood, so he knows a lot of Irish people. He also tells Sarah that he heard a disturbance at the church when he was there, but that he and his family have been able to patch it up since then. He wants her to lead him not to fall into temptation, and he tells her that he'll come to see her when he feels better. Sarah asks what happened on the cross, and she says that she was looking at it when she got a flash of light. She tells him that it's the only way she can figure out what's going on. She asks why he didn't mention it earlier, and then she tells him to hang on a sec. She wants to know why he hasn't mentioned it earlier. She says that he inherited great power and that mankind depended on him, and that he still needs a woman to touch him. She reminds him that he smells like "battery acid," and she wants him to remember that smell
