"The Day of the Outlaw" The letterer arrives at the sheriff's office to get his money back. He tells the sheriff that he's not done with him yet, and that he has defended the town from thieves and robbers for three years. The sheriff tells the letterer that he is no longer employed by the town, but that he needs payment. He says that he doesn't want to die, but he does want to protect his son. He asks the sheriff not to kill him, but the sheriff says that God will protect him, and the man who was the ringleader of the town before the sheriff left is dead. He also says that the town is full of "assholes," and that the people enjoy their time there.
