About This Chapter
In this second part of the story, we learn that Oswald is not invited to the party. He knows that he does not need any help from the witches, and that he is not the only one who has a collection of magical items. Oswald, however, does have a special gift for the witches: he has a magical light that he can use to find what he is looking for. Oswald is thrilled to have the light, but he is also a little worried about the safety of the party since they are selling cookies. He asks the butler if he is supposed to be at the party, and the butler says that he was not. Oswald tells him that the party is lost and that they should get out of there. The butler then asks Oswald if he has eaten the cookies, and Oswald replies that he has. He then tells Oswald that the murder of his servant pleases him even less, because he is in Oswald's place of power. He accuses Oswald of being a rogue who has been sent by the witch to seek his own death. Oswald says that the witch has sent him a special prize in the magic light, and he will use it to find out who he is serving. Oswald thanks the witch for sending him the prize, and says that they just needed a pawn to get rid of Oswald. The witch soon took control of the village, and rumors spread that she was involved in unholy acts.
