About This Chapter
In this final chapter of the novel, Corin Marz is writing a letter to Corin's sister, Sara. Corin tells her that he is sorry that she is suffering because of him. He tells her to understand that he has been locked away in prison for centuries and that he does not know what to do. He asks her what she should do. She asks him what he is doing in prison and he says that he just wants to get them out of there. He says that the witchblade has the power to heal the wound and that the angelus was the one who imprisoned her. Sara asks him who she is angry with and he replies that she must be angry with him for leaving the car at the rest stop. He explains that he left the car to explain that he had engine trouble. Sara says that she has no idea who he is angry at and that there is no reason for her to think that he can't be found as well. He then says that his biggest problem is with lieutenant Phipps, who has gotten his hands on the diary of his former partner. He wonders if Sara can do anything to help him. Sara tells Corin that she knows what is coming and that breaking in with another partner would be a disaster. She says that her father used to take her to the beach when she was a child and that she loves to watch the waves rolling in from the water. She adds that she doesn't want to trade anything for anything because she knows that she cannot change anything. She wonders if certain items are being dumped in the ocean in order to be rid of evidence.
