This chapter opens with a flashback to the battle of the Temple of the Heavenly Feathers in which Cai Ming-ling is killed by his brother, Lao Zhen-ling. The flashback shows that the two men had agreed to arrange two opponents to face off against Lao Zhenling. Cai Mingling is furious that his brother has been killed, and he asks his master if he wants to kill him. The master replies that he does not want to kill his brother because he is his junior brother. The two men discuss the possibility of a duel between the two brothers, but the master refuses to discuss the matter further, saying that he is in charge of the temple.
