The chapter opens with a soliloquy in which the narrator describes a large rock in the middle of a valley in the mountains of central China. He says that the rock is perfect because it is surrounded by lush vegetation and he can cultivate it right there. He compares the rock to a "leaf" that grows out of the ground and is nourished by the "soul energy" of the surrounding plants. He uses a few purple smoke stones to get to the four star rank, and he says that he will keep going until he reaches the five star rank. He notices that the brat has an "inter spatial ring" , which means that he has a lot of good stuff to trade for. The narrator says that even if the brat is dead, they will still have enough good stuff for a night of debauchery.
