The chapter opens with a soliloquy by Zillah, in which he tells Zillah that he is lucky that he has so many friends. Zillah says that he treats people well, and that he admires and respects Zillah because he has helped so many people, especially the two of them. He says that Zillah has given them nice things, and Zillah asks Zillah if he looks like a liar, and if he does, Zillah tells him to test it. He then says that if Zillah doesn't believe him, he can test it by telling him what he thinks. When Zillah tries to tell him that he should be careful, he says that it's okay to be angry, because cultivating one's mind and soul is the only way to cultivate a strong mind. He adds that if someone comes to them, they should take the scroll out of Zillah's hand and use it to travel to the other side of the world. He asks if they can carry him on their back, but they refuse, saying that they haven't yet learned how to fly
