This chapter opens with a soliloquy by a demon named "tales of great battle" . The narrator thanks the "little punk" for his part in the battle. He tells the audience that he's "kind of shy" by nature. He thanks the demon for saving him from the demon beast. He also thanks the master of the battle for using the "rank technique" to save him. The demon says that he forgot about the incident, but he does want to thank the master. The master says he doesn't need the demon spirit, but the spirit of the wind demon reminds him of his master. He asks the master to take the spirit as a "betrothal gift" , which means that the master can marry his daughter. He says he would be "respectful" to the master if he did not accept the gift, but if he does, it means that he can marry the daughter he loves.
