In this chapter, we learn that the test to pass the Gleaming Tower is one-foot tall. This is too low a requirement, since Gleams talent is equal to everyone else's. The Gleamers are the only ones who can pass the test, and they're the ones who have the most talent. They're also the most powerful people in the world, so they should be able to pass this test. Gleam says that the first test is not bad, since there are only about a thousand geniuses left. Next, he says, they'll be sent to another part of the tower, where someone else will administer the second test. He wonders if the master will find a candidate for this time around, since he's so big. He's happy that they've passed the first part, but he warns them to be careful in the second part, because there's a black infernal tower in the middle of the wasteland. The tower contains "supernatural black flames" and "demon beasts" , which can still be released by the master's expert.
