In this chapter, the reader is introduced to the "soul ocean" and the "power of law" that it contains. The reader is reminded of his own soul, which he describes as having a "vine" that has been taking in "the power of law." The vine, he says, is the "divine spark" of the fire goddess. The ball of light in the pool is actually the "original body" that the "godly spark" is using to recreate the physical body. This is different from the way he used to do it in his previous life. He feels that he is being "boiled" by the vine, and he wonders if the divine spark is the same as a normal human being.
