This chapter opens with a description of a massive demon beast horde that has just arrived in the city. The city's mayor, Duan-jian, explains that the holy family and the dark guild have been unable to resist the horde for two years, but now that the city has an array of defenses, they are able to delay the arrival of the horde. He asks the mayor if the horde is a demon beast, and the mayor answers that it is. The mayor then asks the wall if he can send him five hundred men to protect the city, but the wall tells him that he is in serious danger and that he should not worry about it.
