The chapter ends with the young master and his band of foot soldiers leaving. They're glad to be gone, and they promise to become decent people. The young master explains that he accidentally stepped into the Black Spring in his previous life, but he's now prepared himself well and survived. He finds a set of ruins below the spring, and he plans to explore them. The only platform with runes engraved on it is on the wall, surrounded by lightning and six fire signs. He has to decode the sign, but if he mistakes it, he'll die.
