In this chapter, Desdemona asks her two masters if they can cut through her "ropes of origin" made of the "law of death" . She coughs, and the energy drained from her body by her cough is not enough to cut through the "rope of origin," which is made up of the laws of death. She asks them to take the law "of death blow" , but they refuse, saying that they are too human to do so. She tells them that she wants them not to think about laying their hands on her, because she is too weak to face them. She says that the law of
