He says that even if the student has the best cultivation techniques, he can still give the student guidance on how to cultivate. He compares the soul realm to a cup and the water realm to fire. A demon spiritualist can't understand the differences between water and fire, but a human can. If the student is willing to have the founder as his teacher, he might be able to explain some of the deeper secrets in the human soul realm.
