The chapter opens with the narrator telling us that he has heard that a man in heaven is refusing to accept the test of spiritual root. The narrator says that the man chose death over returning home, and that he's still trash anyway. He's not the only one in heaven who's rejected the test, though, and the narrator doesn't want to be a part of it. He tells us that the guy is shivering and staring at him. He says that he can't look at him because the test is getting more and more difficult, and he says that if he fails, he'll have to go back to his old life. He also says that it's purple, the color of the heaven spiritual root, which means that he is the fourth person in the world to have tested as a "heaven spiritual root" this year. He compares himself to the other three people who've tested so far, and says that now there's another one. He asks if they're serious, and they admit that they've cheated. He then says that there are five heaven spiritual roots on the draconic landscape, and now there are another one on the tiny world. He wonders how many heaven roots there are in the entire world, and how many of them
