The chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter. The flashback shows that Arthur and Merlin are still in the castle, but they are not with the rest of the group. Arthur asks Merlin why he never told him about the power of Chaos, and Merlin replies that he did not want to be insensitive because Chaos is a powerful force that has already wrought havoc on the world. Arthur then explains that the Chaos is not gone yet, and that he will have to control it in order to keep the world safe from Chaos's evil designs. He also explains that if he is unable to control Chaos, then he will end up consumed by Darkness, and this will be the end of him as a human being.
