In this chapter, the father and son are introduced. The father is named Zhivago, and the son is named Ban. He is a young man who has just turned 40 years old. He tells his son that he wants to bring his little sister back to the forest. He reminds him that he is a member of the seven deadly sins, and that his lover is a saint of fairy folk. He also reminds his son of a rumor that he heard about a way to bring back the dead. He says that it is hard for him to follow in his father's footsteps, as he has found some thing that he cares about more than his own self. He asks his son if he killed his friend, and he says that he chose to kill his friend. He adds that he weighed him against selion, and abandoned him for it. He begs his son to forgive him for taking advantage of him.
