In the midst of the battle, Meliodas tells his brothers that it's too late for them to turn back. He's going to become a demon lord and "break the curse" on Elizabeth. He tells them that he nursed them back to health, and he's glad to see that they're all back to full health. He says that if they want to fight over the throne, they should include him in the fight. He also says that he doesn't care about the throne at all, but if they decide to fight, he'll be there to help them.
