The chapter opens with a soliloquy about the futility of the old soldiers' mission to help the demon army. It is obvious that the old man is envious of the young master, who has been sent away by his father. The old man tells his son that the demon lord has ordered him to re-establish contact with his son, whom he calls "the pacifier demon" . The young master replies that he does not understand how his father can be so envious of his son. He then tells his father that he has been ordered to return to his son as "sama" , which means "son" in Latin. This is a reference to the fact that his father is the father of the "puppet demon" and that his son is the son of the man whom the old soldier dropped his cane on. The two men discuss the situation and decide to have tea together. They decide to wait until the new king is ready to be crowned. The older man tells the younger man that he will welcome his brother as the next king. The elder man then tells the young man that the king is asking for him because he is the next to be the king and that he tried to save his brother from his brother's suffering. The younger man tells him that the man is as cruel as the old master. He tells the older man to take him up on the idea of him being the next "big brother" and to rest until he is fully "what a cruel thing" for doing so. He also tells the elder man to accept the pendant as a token of his love for his son because it reminds him of the memories of the two of them together.
