About This Chapter
This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between Nemo and Nemo's son, Nemo Jr. Nemo tells Nemo that if he were a man, he'd faint if he saw the Cap-tain and Elizabeth-sama together. Nemo says that he's ashamed of himself for being such a bad person, and he wonders if he'll ever be able to get Elizabeth to pay attention to him. Nemo also tells the king that he hasn't seen Diana since this morning, when she was pinned under a beam. Nemo wonders if it's because she lifted a beam with only one arm, and the king says that's a "magic item" . Nemo then says that the clothes she's wearing are so tattered that she'll have to get new clothes made. Nemo asks if the king will come to the celebration with him, and Nemo says yes. He also says that they'll be opening up their business again soon, and that the feast will be the first time they've been able to do so in a long time. Nemo apologizes for his rudeness to the king, saying that he was hoping to run into him so he could tell him something. He says he can't hope for forgiveness just because he apologized. He's not giving his "left overs" to anyone, he says. After the birthday celebration, Nemo says, he plans to leave the kingdom and make his way around the country.
