About This Chapter
Back in the town of Ravenswood, Falstaff and his son have been shopping for armor for three years. Falstaff tells his son that it's been a long time since they've been in Ravenswood and that he's happy to be back. He tells Falstaff that he reminds him of a "holy knight" , and Falstaff says that's because Falstaff is dressed like a holy knight. He says that Falstaff has a noble air about him, unlike most travelers, and he reminds Falstaff of a knight in shining armor. He asks Falstaff what he was about to do with his own hand to get rid of his love for Desdemona, and when Falstaff doesn't know what to do, he stomps on Falstaff's head. He's not sure who's trying to harm him, but he says that it is a "grave sin" to try to do so. He compares the amount of magic he used to kill Falstaff to the amount he used on his own. He also says that if Falstaff uses his magic to kill himself, his magical strength is sapped five times faster than it would be if he didn't use it at all. He wonders if they can get back to their plan to get married, but Falstaff isn't sure. He has heard rumors of a bandit town called Ravenswood.
