In this chapter, we learn that Eliza is a criminal who has come to the Crusades to kill the princess. Eliza has come because she is talking about "crap" , which is one of the seven "deadly sins" that plague the human race. This is the same sin that King Lear used against Eliza when he defeated her in the battle of Aeneas's palace. The king's curses are the same seven sins that plague Eliza. She is a suitable opponent for the knights because of her sin of envy. The captain tells Eliza to give back her "friend" . He tells her that his military rule is free from "contagion" and that it crushes all thoughts and wills.
